We're going to start with reading music. The staff, its very important you know what the
staff is. The staff is your lines. Before, maybe you didn't know they were called the
staff, now you know. Staff consists of five lines. In other music, other than drums, each
line or space. This note is on a line that one's on a space. Represents a different note.
A, B, C, D, E, F, G. In drum music we use the lines and spaces to represent different
drums on the drum set. So generally the bottom is your base drum, since the base drum is
on the bottom. Base drum on the bottom space of the staff. Next space up from the bottom
would be your floor tom tom. Second space from the top is your snare drum. And then
other tom toms you can put on lines, such as this. If you have two floor toms you might
have one there, and one there on a line. "X"'s represent symbols in drum music. So an X on
top would either be your high hat or your ride symbol if you're playing with your right
hand, if your a righty. X's on the bottom are generally for your high hat pedal. So
an X down here would need to click your left foot, tap the pedal with your left foot.
