I'm Geoff Roes, ultrarunner, mountain explorer.
Currently living in a cabin up in the mountains.
Living a simple life.
I love racing, but 99 percent of the running I do - I'm out by myself, exploring.
The reason I run is just the simplicity of getting out in nature and traveling - one foot in front of the other.
There's a point where I head out on a run and I no longer think of myself as a runner.
I start to feel like I'm just out on an adventure.
Exploring what's around the next corner.
Exploring what my body can do.
I love just leaving the trail, getting off into untouched areas.
When you head out into the wilderness on foot, you just never know what you're going to find.
Certainly at times you get a little bit lost.
But that's why I'm out there - to lose myself in the mountains.
I've traveled through the wilderness for my whole life.
There's always more, there's always something new out there.
And sometimes you come up over a ridge
and you look out and there's a bunch of mountains I've never seen before. And I just think, man, I've gotta go run that.
