Hello, my name is David Tarigan. Me and my friends are trying to make a centralized database of Indonesian popular musics from every era.
As our first step to make it possible, we concentrate to archive Indonesian musics released in the 50s up to the 70s and maybe some of the 80s as bonus.
However, we will continue to pursue to archive every Indonesian popular musics from all eras.
And also, Irama Nusantara, which we call our database central, will not stop at just a mere online archive.
We realize the importance of this archiving activity as a mean to preserve our national heritage.
We are aware of how inadequate the public knowledge of Indonesian music history.
With the technology available today, it helps bring that awareness and build interest for people of all ages all around the world.
But without the accurate data, it is hard for people to create a solid and well established applications.
So far we have tried to gather and archive physical recordings of Indonesian musics by a very simple means of collecting as much as we can.
It all come from our personal passions and interest in collecting rare Indonesian musics that we've been doing all these years.
We gather the data by digitizing the physical form into a website called Irama Nusantara.
People will be able to easily access the site where they can find all the information they need like album art covers, listen to the songs listed, read articles and join our forums.
So as you can see it will be quite an interactive experience for all to enjoy.
Irama Nusantara, as a database central will expand not just as passive data, but we have a lot of programs that we can develop
such as publishing music literature, cultural events, online radio that we also run known as Kentang Radio, merchandising and a lot more other projects we can do.
Because of its basic nature, as a database central of Indonesian popular music archive, we hoped Irama Nusantara can become a useful source to the entire Indonesian music history.
Irama Nusantara is an everlasting continuous effort.
And to make this all possible, we will need the support, participation and contribution
from everyone who treasure and aware of the importance of the preservation of Indonesian music heritage for our future generation.
