Hi my name is Karen and I work at CSD, the Centre for Students with Disabilities.
CSD proves a variety of services for our students, including a drop in and active listening space,
referral to other services, rental of crutches or wheel-chairs, and a resource library of
books, zines and dvd on disability related issues. We do programming, such as free weekly
yoga, accessibility awareness week and mental empowerment week. We do trainings on inclusive
language and attitudes, and on accompaniment. And we also do consultations on how to improve
the accessibility of events.
CSD has numerous volunteering opportunities. This fall, we will have volunteer teams working
on promotions, events, in office work, our accompaniment service, as well as different
campaigns.
Before working at the centre, I used to come to CSD's drop in space really often and I
found it a really welcoming space on campus. I really like our drop in space and I think
its a great way of creating community, making friends, and learning about disability and
accessibility related issues.
