WHEN PEOPLE CHOOSE TO RUN FOR A CAUSE
THEY USUALLY CHOOSE SOMETHING SIMPLE LIKE A 5K
BUT FOR ONE ULTRA MARATHONER
THAT WOULDNT BE NEARLY ENOUGH
"I'm here today to run 24 hours in honor of the 31 Navy SEALs
Military, and a service dog who were killed on August the 6th, 2011
in Afghanistan in a helicopter crash."
ITS BEEN A LITTLE MORE THAN A YEAR SINCE THE
HELICOPTER CRASH THAT KILLED 31 MEMBERS OF OUR ARMED FORCES
IN AFGHANISTAN
A YEAR SINCE MIKE LOST ONE OF HIS BEST FRIENDS
NAVY SEAL JOHN TUMILSON JT
"Met JT about ten years ago here in Coronado, California
through running. He became like a step son to my wife and I.
So we are reaising money today for the Navy SEAL foundation
and the boot campaign. In order to give
back to those families that have lost these loved ones.
This is a great day honoring 31 special lives.
But more than that 31 special families."
MIKES EFFORT WAS ABOUT MORE THAN JUST RUNNING
IT WAS ABOUT SAYING GOODBYE
TO A NAVY SEAL WHO RAN THE RACE SO OTHERS WOULDNT HAVE TO
AND JT TUMILSON FINISHED STRONG
"JT one of the toughest days in my life was losing you.
You were taken from me way too soon.
You were taken from this world way too soon.
And I just want you to know that I will spend the rest of my days
trying to honor your life, and can't wait for that day when I
get to reunite with you and give you a big ole hug.
And hear you call me pops one more time.
Love you brother."
