Real quick, Scott Walker, Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin anti-union fame, one of his major
donors has been charged with some pretty serious campaign law violations. Obviously, everything
very clean over in that Scott Walker organization, and it's all on the up and up, but a major
donor to Scott Walker was charged with funneling more than $60,000 in illegal campaign contributions
through his railroad employees for over five years, through a five-year period.
His name is William Gardner. He is the president and CEO of Wisconsin and Southern Railroad
Company. And he's pleading guilty to two felony counts, one for exceeding the campaign contribution
limits, and a second for giving company and personal funds to associates so they could
make political donations, mainly to Walker but to some other people.
So basically, this is like if you just go, if you have a company of 100 people, you personally
have a limit as to how much you can donate, you say to your employees hey, everybody donate
the maximum to this candidate and I'll just refund you. I mean, it's just... it's incredible.
Who would think to do this and think you are really going to get away with it in any kind
of real way? And I'm glad that he's... he gets a plea deal, but he is being sentenced
to... oh, it's only two years' probation. I thought it was going to be quite a bit more
than that, at least maybe some jail time. What do you think? That's a little bit of
a light sentence.
Louis: Don't crimes of this nature usually end up with pretty light sentences?
David: Yeah, I guess so. It's just, you know, the buying and selling of government. No big
deal. Happens every day. What else can we say about it?
Louis: Yeah. Nothing, really.
David: I mean, it's... it's not even really that surprising.
Louis: No.
David: But at least we have something here beyond the doubt that we hear... I get emails
all the time saying you're too *** what Scott Walker is doing, the guy's clean, he's
running... you may not agree with his position on unions, but the guy is, he's completely
clean. And again, this is not something that Scott Walker did, right? We can't blame Scott
Walker for...
Louis: Right, he might not have had any idea.
David: But we should be aware that these things are going on. What's happening on today's
bonus show, Louis? Is Libya hiring mercenaries, a toddler was served alcohol at a restaurant,
the bizarre behind-the-scenes and background there is just odd, and a new study says alcohol
might help memory. So we'll look at those three stories and plenty more on the bonus
show. If you're not getting the bonus show yet, this is the time to become a David Pakman
Show member, www.DavidPakman.com/membership. It's time. It's time, Louis. Let's make it
happen. So we'll take a break, come back after this, plenty more to talk about including
the birther escalation that we're seeing nationwide at this point.
