I take after my dad in that I've never really
been able to sit still much,
so I've honestly been an athlete since I was about 5 years old.
I'm Kelly Williamson.
I'm a professional triathlete living here in Austin, Texas.
I get really excited at seeing myself
do things I didn't think I could do.
I got a Pro Card in 02,
and it's 2013 and I'm still racing as a professional.
Being active, it's always kind of been part of what I do.
So even if I wasn't competing right now,
I would still be up every morning probably swimming
or running or doing something like that.
It all goes back to self improvement.
I'll swim 4 - 5 thousand four times a week.
I usually ride between 12 and 15 hours,
I would say, a week on average.
You've got to stay accountable to yourself,
and technology holds me accountable because
it allows me to track progress.
When I'm training, I want to know
am I on track or not.
When I run, I'm always checking pace.
And then I train with power on the bike.
So every time I peddle,
it's measuring how much power I'm producing.
I take that power number, look at that, and that then
predicts how I'm going to start training for that coming season.
I've always considered myself not a real "techie" person,
but then I step outside of it and I'm like
"gosh actually I am pretty tied to technology."
I feel like when I'm not out training,
I'm frequently sitting on the computer.
Something I really love to do is write,
and so I keep a blog.
Twitter, Facebook, you know, a lot of social media.
It's all through technology that I'm able to
let people know when those races are coming up.
Technology does kind of bring it all together.
Recently when I was in Panama,
my husband Derek took a photo of me swimming.
Well this photo gets put on Facebook,
and one of my sponsors says,
"Kelly, this response was incredible,
you know we had 300 likes."
My goal is always to produce results, but when I can bring
a lot of recognition and attention to my sponsors,
then I feel like I'm actually really doing my job entirely.
Bottom line is I'm going to go out there and do my best
from start to finish, and the results are what they are,
but at the end of the day, it's still a pretty cool job
I have and I'm extremely blessed to be able to go do it.
