Hi! My name is Tine Buechler from Business Growth Training and I am here today on behalf
of Expert Village.com to talk about a job interview. Job interview in the process of
looking for a job is a crucial component. You might have an absolutely marvelous resume
that made me want to call you in for an interview. I have a just drop dead gorgeous cover letter
but when it comes to me purchasing an employee and what I mean by that is deciding to hire
that person and negotiating a salary with that person, I base my decision upon the job
interview. That means that you need to be really, really prepared. All of the money
for that position at $50,000 a year times ten years, all of that rests on that 1 hour
of the job interview. That means you really need to be prepared. Things you need to think
about are: how to dress. I need to dress according to the position and matching with the company.
I need to be prepared. What am I going to bring with me. Also, what am I not going to
bring with me. When I approach this interview, I am very professional. I have everything
that I need. I don’t have anything I don’t need. The next thing I need to figure out
is how I am going to get to that interview. How far away is it? Do a practice run, trial
run, make sure that you can get to that interview on time. One of the key areas that I have
talked about over and over is you really need to know your skills. This time when you have
an interview, it’s not just knowing your skills in a general way, but knowing your
skills in a specific way. What are my skills, accomplishments, technical skills, education
as it applies to this job and this company. You need to do your researching and find out
what is it that this company does and what I can offer this company based upon my skills
and ability. Preparation is the foundation of a successful interview. Prepare things
such as the attitude I am going to project, what am I going to wear, what am I going to
bring, what I am going to say, how am I going to say it, what are my concrete examples of
skills and abilities that I want to make certain that they know that I have. All of this preparation
helps you to do a much better job in the sales appointment. I’m buying your behavior; I’m
buying your language. I’m buying your approach. I’m buying your attitude. You need to think
about all those things ahead of time so that you make sure you are selling what you really
need to be selling.
