You don't have to be half as old as i am to be able to know what this is, to be able to know who he is, and "¿Ola ke ase?".
Platform games need no introduction, especially when they have a representative that crushes the competition.
Easy or not, it's impossible not to return to them again and again
just to complete again the same stories, even if you've memorized them.
And how do you not?
If them aren't focused in fascinate or astonish you with rich graphics and spectacular scripts, as God commands,
but instead, they only offer you a kick in the balls of pure fun.
And, needless to say, its simplicity hasn't been any impediment to make them go beyond consoles and generations with its fun and engaging gameplay...
Not like Call of Duty.
¡1987!
¡NES!
Mega Man...
***...
How such a basic idea can become something so big and spectacular?
Spending your time in front of a screen will never be funny until you do it in the shoes of the legendary blue bomber.
Kill robots, get their powers, AND KILL MORE ROBOTS!
SOLD OUT
Its beginnings were like titan steps, and nothing like a storm of sequels and remakes to demonstrate its success.
Even so, it was one of these which could really redefine Mega Man's name, and that is Mega Man...
X!
It won't be just the same like the others.
A window of achievements and opportunities had burst in the ears and eyes of these beautiful creatures called gamers.
You'd have new gameplay, new designs, new sounds, new challenges,
and all that in a package that would maintain the acclaimed essence of its predecessor.
Although this saga continued beyond what it should be, we will focus on one of its installments,
which is not only my favorite, but it's the most important of them all...
...seriously.
In order to understand why Mega Man X5 is so important, we'll have to go deep into the franchise's history.
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were friends and geniuses since they were young, and they dedicated their life to robotics.
For various reasons, they came to a constant and long battle to prevent Wily from taking over the world.
Dr. Light for his part concluded that one way to prevent that could be to create an artificial intelligence capable of understanding the difference between good and evil,
while Wily was secretly developing his supreme killing weapon, one that not even him would be able to control.
Both creations wouldn't be unveiled until almost 100 years later.
On the other hand, X was found by professor Cain, who use it as a model to create the reploids, robotic beings with artificial intelligence,
and because of that, the title of "Father of all" would be granted to X. While Zero that encloses a powerful virus created by Wily would be found by the first of the children of X, the Commander Sigma.
Zero, obeying his murderous nature, attacks he and after an arduous battle Sigma captures Zero, but gets infected by the virus,
which would lead him to become the leader of the Maverick, who were rebellious robots looking for destruction.
A chip would be installed to Zero to give him self consciousness, but from here on, X and Zero will fight constantly against Sigma in what would be called the Maverick wars.
Given his inclination for peace, X is constantly being overtaken by Zero, until one day Zero himself tells him that he will become stronger than him.
This motivates X deeply, helping him to grow slowly but confidently during each one of the wars,
and now is the time for X's long journey of personal growth to reach its end.
Mega Man X5 don't plays it softly, it's an outpouring of style, gameplay and good ideas.
It doesn't tries to compete with its predecessors, but makes them something better,
and besides, it introduces some of the mechanics that the saga so desperately needed:
NOW YOU CAN CRAWL!
On this occasion, Sigma has discovered who was the creator of Zero and the power of the virus that's inside him,
and because of that he is looking to release him using an epidemic of its own Sigma virus.
Seeing that this attempt failed, he decides to convert Space Station Eurasia in an enormous colony of viruses that will be hitting the Earth in only 16 hours.
It comes to the decision that there is no other way but to destroy Eurasia with a huge cannon,
and ultimately throw it a spaceship.
Both devices will depend on certain items that you must take from several Maverick agents throughout the world.
So you have to worry about the Maverick epidemic, about that Eurasia will collide with the Earth,
about improving the cannon and the spaceship, about Sigma's new mercenary Dynamo, about Sigma himself...
and about the Xbox One design, that is a beautiful VHS with which you can enjoy your baptisms and birthday parties in video,
plus it will be looking at you with its little Kinect eye, and if you get distracted it could even *** your famil...
Depending on your actions, both plans can fail, and if so, the Maverick virus will get messed up faster than a match of LoL.
From there, it gets much worse, since Zero is the original carrier of the virus, his power will begin to grow uncontrollably,
bringing little by little his killer instinct.
No matter what you do, near the end of the game you'll have to face Zero,
in the place of largest concentration of the virus.
And is this very same virus the one that pumps his power to critical levels.
And that's exactly why it's the most important part of the saga!
During this battle there is no friendship or feelings involved, it's just you against the original Zero in a fight one on one
where each one gives his maximum potential.
At the end, X barely defeats Zero,
managing to prove that he had finally achieved his self-improvement commitment
defeating his friend, and rival.
Of course after this you'll face Sigma and defeat him again,
although during the battle Zero will sacrifice himself to save your life.
This ending allows X to bear the legacy of his friend as a new warrior
leaving a canonical ending for the future resurrection of Zero.
And why an ending like this should make you feel good?
Simple.
Over the years, Capcom has been spitting with dedication on what will soon be the corpse of one of the most glorious characters that have ever existed,
canceling the games that look very promising,
and developing those who are just plain pitiful.
Truth is, no one knows if someday Capcom will make a title that truly stands for the legendary blue man's name.
At least for now some of us can be satisfied with this being a true ending for him,
not only as a hero, but also as an icon.
And I think there's no better ending that the one I'm about to do...
Thanks!
This same virus...
No matter what you do, near the end you'll have to face vi...
...face virus.
