Hi I'm Billy Kidd here at Expert Village and we're going to talk about the dime defense.
Because you have the extra defensive back, maybe you've got a great wide receiver here
that needs to be covered. One man, you, one of your men cannot cover him; you've got to
have help. So that's when you take that extra safety or corner however you designate it,
and you decide that this guy right here is unstoppable, so then you're going to move
him out here to double cover him and bring that other strong safety down to cover the
inside guy and you've got two people to double cover this one receiver right here. You've
got everybody else manned up. You've got your five people here to hopefully get pressure
on your quarterback or do any kind of combinations that they want to do with these guys. A lot
of times they can get in here, this receiver right here, linebacker, nickelback, if this
receiver comes inside linebacker's got him. If this receiver comes outside nickelback
has him. There's all kind of combinations you can do with nickel.
