...to another generation, but what's that really mean?
I would submit that it means that we do some things that are deliberate for young people,
to give them the things that they need to take the reins of citizenship,
to take the reins of public land management, to, to gather up the passion that is our American connection to the outdoors.
And I, I see that in three pieces. First, there's a fundamental literal- literacy piece,
where you understand about the outdoors, you understand the plants, the animals, and what you see.
And then there's a second piece where you actually get hands-on experience, and that's where you get beyond educating the mind. The, the gut heart gets involved, the heart gets involved.
And, and in that second piece, you affect character.
I would ask you to think about the role of the outdoors in the formulation of one of our presidents, Teddy Roosevelt.
How important were the outdoors to his character, as a president? I would submit, very important.
And the third piece, and this is where we get to be a little bit selfish as an agency, there's gonna be a segment of those young people that wants to incorporate the natural world into their working life.
And we can provide employment opportunities to those young people that have that passion. And that, then, becomes a key piece of handing off to another generation.
