>> Hi. I'm Kay Shattuck, I'm the Director
of Distance Learning Programs
at Carroll Community College in Maryland.
I also teach courses with the World Campus
and do faculty development.
I'm a Blackboard administrator,
so the online environment is my home.
I think one of the best things that I've ever done
for managing my time when I teach online
and I teach a variety of courses is
to immediately before the course begins organize my management
strategies for that particular course.
I used to need to do all of that with Excel spreadsheets
and little note cards.
And sometimes I still do some of that, but with Blackboard
and angel on the systems they allow you to have access
to screens now in which you can do that.
But I -- for each course I would target social
and performance issues and the markers that I'm going to use
for those -- for those particular courses
for each student.
And I get it all set up, so that while the course is moving on,
I take care of making notes on those and tend to them if I need
to especially the social issues.
But those things don't then interfere
with the actual teaching of the course.
