Hi everyone!
Are you having a great time here at Eco-Products 2009?
The common task we all share today is reducing CO2 to prevent global warming.
And in order to "live in harmony with the global environment,"
Panasonic has adopted 3 'eco ideas,'
which form the pillars of our environmental commitment.
At this year's Panasonic booth, we introduce
a "lifestyle with virtually zero CO2 emissions for the entire house"
that is full of various 'eco ideas.'
Now let me introduce a great helper,
who will be helping me out with the presentation today.
"Zero!"
"Hi everyone.
I'm Panasonic's eco messenger, 'Zero.'
A key task we are charged with now is decreasing CO2 emissions in our homes,
but how do we go about reducing CO2 emissions to virtually zero.
I am going to tell you all about Panasonic's new eco activities,
so I hope you will take the latest information home with you."
Recently, I often hear other phrases similar to
a "lifestyle with virtually zero CO2 emissions for the entire house,"
but what is unique about Panasonic's endeavors?
"What is most unique is represented by the word 'entire.'
Various home appliances and AV devices,
lighting and various other equipment as well as even the house itself...
Panasonic provides almost everything that goes into creating a home."
I see.
But how does the word "entire" lead to virtually zero CO2 emissions?
"I will tell you how bit by bit."
So, what is the first step?
"First, reducing the amount of precious energy we use - 'saving energy.'
For a long time, Panasonic has been committed to "exhaustively" saving energy.
If we think about CO2 emissions in homes in 1990 as being 100%,
then Panasonic has successfully almost halved the CO2 emissions in homes
with approximately 100 products in the entire home."
Really? It's been halved?
"Panasonic will remain committed and accelerate our energy-saving activities
represented by products such as the next generation 'LED lighting'
that significantly reduces the amount of energy consumed
in comparison to traditional light bulbs.
In 3 to 5 years, these activities are expected to reduce CO2 emissions
for the entire home by approximately 65%."
There are also great expectations for "ECO NAVI," which appeared this fall,
as a new technology that promotes further energy-savings.
"Yes. 'ECO NAVI' aspires to realize energy-savings that
take into account the way people use energy
and the environment with Panasonic's unique sensor technologies
and program technologies that offers optimal operation."
But even if you "exhaustively" save energy,
we do still need to use energy to a certain extent.
"That is why we are thinking from a new perspective.
We should generate the energy we use ourselves!
In other words, we 'create energy.'
And then 'store the energy' created.
These 2 approaches are important."
By combining the household fuel cell
and the solar power generator that create energy displayed here
with this household lithium-ion battery that stores energy,
Panasonic aims to reduce household CO2 emissions to virtually zero.
"But that's not all!
Panasonic is thinking one step further.
As the words, 'the entire house' indicates,
the next step involves connecting the various devices in our homes
and optimally 'managing' them."
So you are about to reveal why the word "entire" is key.
"Yes. Panasonic has connected the various devices
in our homes together to make 'energy use visible' so far,
but in the near future, using the 'AC/DC Hybrid Power Distribution System'
that lets you use energy more efficiently
and the 'Home Energy Management Systems'
that automatically controls various devices
using information gathered by sensors, and through better management,
Panasonic will realize a lifestyle that is comfortable,
yet produces "virtually zero CO2 emissions."
That's great.
This is like the world of science fiction.
I look forward to what the future beholds.
"Yes! As you have seen,
the ability to offer 'ideas for life' for the 'entire' home is unique to Panasonic.
Please look forward to what we will propose in the future.
Hope to see you again soon!"
So, what did you think about Panasonic's
"lifestyle with virtually zero CO2 emissions for the entire house"?
To prevent global warming,
Panasonic will expand the field from homes
to cities and beyond, to societies.
We hope to continue contributing to the realization of a low carbon society
through our commitment to reducing CO2 emissions comprehensively,
in "entirety" that is unique to Panasonic.
Thank you for joining us.
