This is a quick guide to using ebrary, one of our
ebook platforms. You'll run into ebrary books when you're searching
the CUNY+ catalog. I'm going to go in there
and look for The Communist Manifesto
and here are our results. And you'll notice some of them say
electronic resource. Electronic resource means
something web-based; it's not a physical item. You see we have two copies
one from 2008 one from 2001. So if we wanted to look at that we would click where it
says CUNY,
just like you do for physical book
but there's no call number. There's nothing that says Regular Loan
because it's an ebook. It's web-based. So we're going to go into
the LaGuardia link
and here's our book. You can use the arrows to page through,
just like you would with a physical book, if you were flipping through it.
You can use the table of contents on the right to jump around, to jump to
different parts of the book.
You can search within the book and even if you wanted to download the book
to read on a mobile device or to look at later
you can sign-in just like you're using
the Library from off-campus. Your first name dot last name and then your CUNYFirst ID
and the last two digits of the year you were born. And then with that you can download
the book as a PDF. You can do it by chapter or you can do
up to 60 pages time. Or you can download the whole thing
using Adobe Digital Editions. For that you'd
need to read the documentation about how you go through that process.
You can also print. If you right-click you can print. You also get some other
tools that might be useful to
you. So ebrary is a nice way to have access to a lot of books
from anywhere. And that's a quick guide to using it.
