In this video we will demonstrate how to use the new screen capture feature in Windows 8.
In addition, we'll demonstrate the legacy method of capturing screens.
The new Windows 8 method works on both the Metro and Desktop sides. Press the Windows and Print screen keys.
The screen will flicker as a picture is automatically captured into a special folder.
Open the picture library.
Now open screenshots and here is the screen we just captured.
Now let's switch to the Desktop side by pressing the Windows and D keys.
Here we have multiple overlapping windows.
We can capture the entire screen by pressing the Print screen key. This action copies a screen shot into the clipboard.
But let's say we only want to capture window number one and nothing else.
To do that we merely pressing Alt and Print screen keys.
This copies only the active window into the clipboard.
Press the Windows and Q keys.
To work with that picture you can paste it into any program that handles graphic images. We'll use the Paint program in this example.
Enter paint in the box and click on Paint.
We can now paste that image into Paint by pressing the Control and V keys.
Notice that the image contains only the small window that we wanted. We can save this image and use it however we wish.
Now you know multiple ways to capture screen images in Windows 8.
