Another thing that happens, although it's not very common, but certainly you see professional
violinists do this sometimes, is actually perform with the music which is perfectly
fine. Sometimes you might find that you've been working on a piece for a while but it's
just not quite up to, in terms of memorization, it's not quite where you want it to be, but
it is ready to be performed. So usually what you can do is you can kind of just have your
music there just as a guide, and again just keep your same position in front of the piano.
The only thing that changes is that you have the piano here, and then you have your stand
kind of here to your right. But you want to make sure that you don't have the music there
in a way that it just looks like you're just practicing on stage. You want to make it look
like you're performing. So it's a good idea to kind of angle the music, kind of put it
a little farther back to your side, and to really have it as just like a guide in case
you need it. So that's another way that you can perform, but usually when you're performing,
you're going to be playing mostly everything from memory.
