Hello, I am Paul Zaichik, Founder of ElasticSteel Method of Athletic Conditioning
Martial Arts Kicking, Today I am going to talk to you About the spinning back kick
Martial Arts Kick, I was going to do the spinning Back kick video last weeek
However when I announced that last week
A week before that, I got questions about it
Back Kick In Martial Arts I am going to address two issues today, One the back pain during the back kick
Spinning back kick
Martial Arts Back Kick, and two
also why there's a lack of power for a lot of people lack of speed
Martial Arts Kick Technique In the spinning back kick
Ok, real quick lack of kick power and speed
Everyone learns the spinning back kick this way
In the fighting stance, the foot steps here, turn
Boom, kick
right
It’s great when you learn the spinning Back kick this way
It’s great that you find your balance, Look at the target find, your target
the target
Spinning back kick
You kick it
however if you started breaking up the movements like that as someone sent me the tape
tape and that's what it looks like
Back kick movements were great, Heel was in line, everything was in proper line
Taekwondo Back Kick
but if you stop your movement
The spinning back kick spin is to accelerate The mass into the target, it’s not about the spin itself
Taekwondo kick
If you are going to stop the Kick here and there
Of course you are going to lose the Speed to lose the power
Very important to understand the difference between The spinning back kick and spin side kick They are not the same thing
And those kicks don’t even look the same
Spin side kick is just another way to throw Side kick from a different position
So before the kick, some turns like this
okay from here
turn like this
Throw the side kick
A kick is different
Than someone throwing a back kick
If you notice the line of my kicking foot
One is parallel to the floor
The other at an angle
The back kick is thrown this way
looking over the shoulder
but not completely turned
Back kick in most cases is a technique
That you put a lot o power into
spinning side kick
Spin side kick done correctly is much easier to follow Up with the hands or punches
But spin side kick doesn’t have the Speed, the power or the surprise of the Spinning back kick
Taekwondo sparring kick
so you have to sort of without
doing this than this
and this
Without doing all that separately while Throwing the kick
and that's have to be learned
The same way if you are going to do A jump kick or a flying kick
You can break it up in certain ways But after a while
It has to be one complete kick
Spin back kick notice the difference
Spin side kick would look like this
So that’s one part about the spinning back kick
Second part is the injuries
at that
although it supposed to be at an angle
Taekwondo spinning back kick Martial arts sparring
A lot of people do have a tendency to turn the kick
When that happens, you need to have the rotation In your trunk
So when you throw a back kick, You are rotating from your trunk
Notice the kick is behind me
I am look over at the kick The rotation takes place
from my spine
Taekowndo sparring
If you rotate from your hips
You want the hip into the target, You don’t want it away
Martial arts spinning back kick
So the rotation is supposed to take place From the spine, here
Just to be safe during the kick It’s recommended to develop the flexibility In the hips
Olympic Taekwondo training
So the during the stretch, the feet are aligned
Basic positioning
Very similar to Warrior One In Yoga, But slightly different
Kick Boxing Back Kick
So instead of the bottom of the foot being on the floor The inner boarder of the foot is on the floor
And as I turn
obviously I can rotate this way
but i want to actually engage my hips a little bit
just to get that extra flexibility why?
because if i don't have that flexibility
The hips while throwing the back kick Primarily the adductors and hip flexors here
that's going to happen is am I going to arch my back
To compensate
I don’t want that, so
I actually want to move from the hips
more difficult to do this
You feel nothing
you do this bring the hips forward under you
a lot more difficult however practicing that stretch will actually
Guarantee you safer back
A lot of people do injure their back, while throwing Back kicks
And less pulled hip flexors and adductors
