When I first came to theWELL a couple years ago...
like anything it was intimidating. Anyone's intimidated by that amount of people.
Cause everyone has stories with each other, and everyone loves each other, and everyone knows each other...
and you're the new guy.
So of course, you don't have that history.
But I had this guy come up to me, and he was just like...he just started cracking jokes like we were buddies, like we had that trust already.
And I was like oh cool, this guy's not gonna ask me what I do for a living,
like, gonna go through the regular routine of how you really introduce yourself.
So seeing that, I'm like...I started to trust this guy more, and I'm like...wow if I feel this way toward him, maybe if I apply this to new people I meet...I mean it'd be great.
And so like, I've done it before. I mean...
like new people show up at theWELL and I'll be like "Oh, hey, what's up man? I like your scarf."
And he'll be like "Oh thanks man...oh wait...I don't have a scarf..."
And it's like... this guy is weird...but he's funny.
And it breaks the ice...I mean,
they may think I'm awkward and weird at first, but in the end...
[Menacing voice] They will trust me, whether they want to or not.
Nah, I'm kidding.
But like, I use that, as a gateway, as an example to further talk to them about God in the future.
Cause, when you joke around with somebody, eventually you're gonna end up talking about God.
Eventually you're gonna end up looking up at the stars and being like "I wonder what's up there bro"
And it's like, you get in those deep conversations, and...
I think humor is the easiest way to get to a person's heart.
