A years ago in May,
i was a quadriplegic.
I couldn't move. I had no
no body motion at all.
I came to Texas Back Institute
and got introduced a Doctor Bradley.
We had two procedures on my spine, a fusion and a lumbar area
decompression back surgery
and I feel great. I couldn't move uh... as Dr. Bradley uh...
pointed out you know i was just uh...
I couldn't grab to shake his hand or
to stand up was impossible
I had a lot arthritis problems and
when we were younger uh... at work you know we did a lot of lifting
Doing stuff like that, that really kind of hurt that part of my back
and then I, I ignored it
uh... you know instead of going to see a doctor about it when i was younger i
just got a
take tylenol or something like that
and uh... you know
the pain would go away but then it would return the following day
i got to the point
when I moved from washington to stay here
and
uh... lived with my mom and dad and here I am sixty years old going back to
them
and then I kept on thinking to myself is this the away i'm going to be for the
rest of my life?
I was depressed there for a while I'm starting to get back and I just like I
I got an apartment
I'm starting to drive
and uh... I'm starting to develop my independence. He had a
major spinal cord injury to where he had very minimal function of
any of his arms or legs. He was in a wheelchair. He could not hardly feed himself
and you can see from the exam today he's walking with the walker he can shake
my hand, he can queeze to be do stuff, so
more on the minimally invasive side of things, helped him. I mean,
it's such a
success story. It's really inspiring to see.
What do you want out of life?
You have to ask yourself.
I mean, do I want to get up and go to
to the movies? Do I want to go out and socialize with friends? stuff like that
It all depends what you want. if you want to sit there nin a chair and look out
a window
fine. But I don't. I want to get better
and these people here are here to help me out. Back surgery at Texas Back Institute gave me back my life.
