My name is Olivia Ross. I work on sustainability communications for IKEA.
My name is Ria Falk. I am a product developer.
I’m Alistair Davidson. I just joined the executive management team of the IKEA Group.
In FY12 we opened 11 stores in 9 countries.
I think it’s important to sell IKEA taps because it’s very cool that our taps save about 30% water.
The unique thing about the Persian rugs here at IKEA is that every rug has its own history.
For example, maybe the man who made this was a hunter and the second thing is, we have a really good price.
The store is really the essence of IKEA. It’s where everything comes together.
People come because they have dreams or aspirations and needs to furnish their home.
We have lots of inspiration and solutions and you can say it’s where everything is coming together.
By the end of FY12 the IKEA Group had 298 stores in 26 countries.
Where do our store profits go?
That’s a big question. Our profits go into a variety of reinvestments into the company.
We reinvest in suppliers. We reinvest in new materials. We reinvest in new stores. We reinvest in sustainability.
We also keep some money on the side to make sure that we always have a little bit more
in order to be ready for a rainy day if ever that came around.
In FY12 we invested ‚ €1.9 billion back into the business.
Our sales increased by 9.5% compared to FY11.
For the IWitness trip we went to Madagascar which was hosted by the UNICEF team.
One of the most important learning experiences I brought back to my work was to realise the
responsibility I have in my work. I’d worked with the soft toy campaign for education for many years.
It’s a lot about sales. It’s a lot about selling as many soft toys as possible. That’s very important for the success of the
campaign and supporting the beneficiaries but what happened when coming back I realised the meaning it gives to my life.
In FY12 the IKEA Foundation donated approximately €82million to various projects around the world.
I’m excited about the energy that’s within the company and also everyone working with sustainability across IKEA.
I think we can bring a lot of passion into what we are doing and integrate it from product design
to how we meet the customer on the shop floor. I think this is a really exciting opportunity.
It's so fun to work for IKEA. There's a lot of creative people working together to complete a lamp from the start
with the designers and to make the technical construction and make sure we purchase it in the right place and have a
really good solution in the end. It's a joint effort. That's the fun part of it.
The lamp VIDJA was re-designed from 33 to 9 components.
We reduced the packaging by 28%. Now we're able to fit 128 lamps - instead of 80 - on a pallet.
By the end of FY12 we had 250,000 solar panels on IKEA buildings around the world.
In FY12, we produced renewable energy equivalent to 34% of our total energy consumption.
At IKEA we say be yourself. Your uniqueness makes IKEA better.
This means come up with ideas, contribute, be part of it feel invited, feel engaged. You’re welcome with all your ideas.
Your contribution is really recognised and rewarded.
Today we are 139,000 co-workers around the world.
In FY12 47% of our managers were women.
We did a lot in 2012. What do you want to happen in 2013?
I really hope we can continue our good development. It gives IKEA a meaningful purpose
to create a better everyday life for the many people. We’re idea based and we build on our culture, spirit
and values and we are on the move to contribute even more to people throughout the world in their
desire to create their home in a nice way.
At the same time we are increasingly becoming an important contributor to a better society.
I'm looking forward to pass my final exams and start as co-worker here at the Brunswick store
where I hope to raise customer satisfaction and welcome a brighter future.
I want to be able to develop myself and have the opportunity to influence people around me.
I would like our customers to say they see distinctive improvement in product quality at even lower prices.
In 2013 I want to see that the city pollution improved a lot and I wish to travel with my wife.
In 2013 I want to see IKEA employ more apprentices because I like to work with young people.
In 2013 I’d like to see more decoration in the stores at IKEA and to have sustainability as a driving business.
I’m looking forward to my new baby in 2013.
I love to work for IKEA and I want more responsibility. That’s my wish for 2013. Thank you.
My wish is for IKEA to achieve its goals for the year because I know I’ll be a part of it.
I hope in 2013 everyone will be happy.
Hello, my name is Natalia. I'm working for IKEA and this is my friend, Strawberry.
Love and unity, right.
Thanks to all of our co-workers for making FY12 a fantastic year.
