Are you interested in having the freedom to design your degree? If so, stay tuned to learn
more about the Individualized Studies programs at Distance Minnesota. My name is Kim, and
I am one of the online advisors at Distance Minnesota. Today, I am excited to discuss
what is an individualized studies program, what is the curriculum, how will it transfer,
what is the program cost and what is the job outlook.
What is the individualized studies program? An individualized studies degree provides
you an opportunity to design a unique program to meet your specific career and educational
goals. You work closely with your program advisor to develop a plan to obtain your objectives.
There are three programs that are offered: Individualized studies, AS, ATCC, Individualized
studies, AAS, NTC and Individualized studies, Diploma, NTC.
What is the curriculum? Depending on the program you choose, your courses will vary slightly.
But the main variable for all three programs is that you complete a large number of electives,
so you have the freedom to choose which courses fit your needs. In addition, check out the
required courses and total number of credits for each program.
How will the Individualized studies program transfer? The courses you complete are based
on occupational goals and technical credits, so transfer to a university will be on a course-by-course
basis. The two exceptions is the Individualized Studies, AAS program has articulation agreements
will MSU-Moorhead for Operations Management and Mayville State University for Business
Administration, BAS. In addition, the Individualized Studies AS has an articulation agreement with
Metropolitan State University for Individualized Studies, BA. Learn more about the articulation
agreements at mntransfer.org. What are the program costs? You pay the tuition
and fees of the college you take the course from. So depending on what courses you complete,
your tuition and fees may vary slightly. The online tuition rates for all three Distance
MN colleges are $199 a credit. After fees, the total ranges from $208.64 to $211.13 a
credit. Check out the chart for more details. What is the job outlook? You can seek employment
in a wide variety of fields, depending on your occupational goals and the courses you
complete. Explore iseek.org for career statistics and resources in MN. In addition, wages vary
greatly depending on the courses you completed, additional education you obtain and your job
placement. Check out iseek.org for more details. Contact Distance MN at 1-800-657-3930 or via
