Ladies and gentlemen, on behalf of Susan, I'd like to apologize.
She's being shy at the moment because she doesn't know how to start her speech on how
to be a great street vendor. And a maid.
OMG, I didn't get the memo about slavery being a career now.
Mom, you don't really have to do this.
Mara, just let your mom speak. Susan, you need to go on stage now.
Teach us how to properly clean our toilets so we can tell our own house maids when we
get home.
Susan, the stage is yours now.
Mom...
I'm not gonna let them make fun of you like this.
Um.. a p-pleasant day to everyone.
I'm S-s-Susan David. I'm a mother of one of your scholars here in your school.
I'm a housemaid.
But before... but before I started working, I used to sell umm... boiled quail eggs and
roasted peanuts on the streets.
My daughter said that this occasion was held to give our students inspiration on the career
paths they're choosing in the future.
I know that my profession is something that everybody wouldn't want in the first place.
However, all I can say is that what I do is honorable,
And what I earn from this profession keeps my daughter alive.
I don't earn as much as compared to most of you. And it saddens me to say this that most
of the time I couldn't really provide all my daughter's needs.
However, even if I deprive her of all these riches you can easily afford, I always make
sure that I'm always by her side whenever she needs me the most.
I want to thank our Lord for giving me a really kind-hearted, hard-working, intelligent, and loving daughter.
That in spite of our poverty, in spite of all the problems we encounter, she never stopped
doing her best in order to make her dreams come true...
... to finish school in this very prolific, prestigious educational institution.
So she would give herself the opportunity to live a wonderful life in the future.
Mara, my baby, I'm not gonna leave your side until you reach your goals in life.
Because I know that when you do, you don't have to be a street vendor
or a house maid like me.
Perhaps other people are saying that I've been living my life in vain. But you know what?
I can die with a smile on my face because I am confident that I was able to take care of my child.
And for me, that's the most important.
I strongly believe that being a parent is the highest form of profession.
Because it's our responsibility as parents to nurture our children's entire well-being.
And even just on that aspect,
even just on that particular task, I'm proud to say I did a wonderful job.
