Hi I am Philip Busk with Marketing on the Web. Today I am am going to talk
a little bit more about link building
because of the spam and manipulated link profiles, people buy links trying to just
shove as many links to their site because of the early example where
hundred links was better than fifty links
Google had to make some changes. What they did is they changed their
algorithm to look more at authority and trust,
so all links are not created equal.
Back to the neighborhood example I used an earlier video if you have a neighbor
on your right hand side who happens to be a gourmet chef
and neighbor on the left who
doesn't know anything about food, but loves dogs. and you're looking for a restaurant
gourmet chef tells you to eat at restaurant A and
the other guy tells you to eat at restaurant B there's a good chance you're going to go
to restaurant A because the gourmet chef told you go there
now let's say that you had five gourmet chefs telling you the eat at restaurant
A and a thousand people that know nothing about food telling you to eat at
restaurant B there still a great chance that you're going to eat at
restaurant A because you talk to someone who has authority and you trust
their opinion
Links are a lot like that example.
So if i go into a site, and
sticking with the restaurant example,
go to a food critics blog and the food critic tells you to eat at restaurant A
but you’re on a hundred sites they're talking about
dogs or "what I did during my day" and there's a hundred links
to restaurant B
that link from the food critic blog holds a lot more weight in the Google
algorithm
so they're still good chance that
just because
what i'm trying to say is that all links are not created equal, but
that one link holds a lot more power than a hundred links coming from
sites about dogs or whatever
so at Marking on the Web we spend a lot of time trying to find
high authority and high trust links.
We might not give you as many links, we're not going to give you a thousand
links for $5, but we're going to give you links that are really going to
make a difference in your ranking for your site
