Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. Trust also in me. Those timeless words
from John 14 were Jesus talking to His disciples. But they also ring true generations later
as you and I begin to experience the idea of faith breakthroughs.
Hey, welcome back! I’m honored to be on this journey with you and as we get started,
it’s very important that we understand two key terms and how they’re defined.
As you continue through this journey, these terms will become more obvious to you. First
of all – walls. Walls can be defined as an unhealthy mindset that keeps you and me
from living the life that God intends. Walls can hinder. Walls hold us back. But it’s
important to understand some things about that “wall” definition.
First of all, it’s a mindset. It’s not a circumstance. It’s the way that we’re
seeing life. It’s the frame of reference with which we’re looking at the circumstances
we’re experiencing.
We also notice also that it is an unhealthy mindset. And as a result, we’re not looking
according to the promises of God, we’re looking according to the flesh – to other
ideas that we’ve experienced. Or even just our own history and some of the heritage that
we’ve received that may be unhealthy. That’s a wall.
The second definition is very important. It's the antidote to the wall – it’s the secret
weapon! And that’s what we call a faith breakthrough. A faith breakthrough is the
act of overcoming one of life’s barriers – or walls – by intentionally pursuing
and living out the promises of God.
A faith breakthrough is the goal. The wall is the barrier.
I firmly believe that every one of us face walls in our lives and until we recognize
that it is through the promises of God that we overcome those walls, we’ll be stuck
behind them for most of our days.
God bless you as you walk through this journey. You’ll find a wealth of resources on this
