[Music] Chicago Commons was founded in 1894. It was founded in a settlement house which
means it's always been a neighborhood organization, and today we're in three neighborhoods in
the city: West Humboldt Park, Pilsen, and Back of the Yards. The mission of Chicago
Commons is to partner with individuals, families and communities to overcome poverty, discrimination
and isolation. And, it's really about improving neighborhoods, particularly through education.
We run four preschools for children zero to five. We also have after school programs for
elementary school and for teenagers, and then we even have adult education for parents and
others who didn't finish high school to work on their GED. A few years ago, Rabine Group
got involved at our golf outing, but immediately Gary and Cheryl Rabine got really interested
in what we were doing and took the time to come out and tour our preschools. And immediately
they saw the way we worked with parents and trying to really get the whole family engaged
in education, and I could tell they really shared that commitment. So, they decided to
start to find ways to help us, and they've really become some of the key supporters for
Chicago Commons. Chicago Commons is really grateful for support from Rabine Group. We
rely heavily on private donations to make sure that we can have the highest quality
education and really allow families in these tough neighborhoods a chance to overcome the
odds and get their kids on the track to success. I know Rabine shares in that idea of giving
everyone a shot if they work hard and overcome obstacles. We really appreciate their partnership
and their support.
