A lot of science goes behind the food we eat. Here at the Queensland Health and Food Sciences
Precinct, our job is to work with industry to deliver food of the highest quality. For
the consumer, flavour is everything. Food should be fresh, convenient and healthy, but
also exciting to eat. We run taste panels to rate the quality of food: appearance, aroma,
flavour and texture.
What about the flavour?
We then match the most delicious tastes to the molecules responsible for those flavours.
Better flavour means more opportunity for local industry, export and trade. Queensland
producers are passionate about quality – and so am I. That’s my job. Well, the results
are in, and Queensland food tops the class.
