We spend a lot of our time dealing with that age-old kinda cliché – and it’s a cliché
for a reason- what keeps you up at night? What are the problems and worries that nag
at you? But for me, as I look at the great companies I’ve gotten to know, as I think
about the great entrepreneurs I’ve had a chance to meet, what strikes me is that so
many of them understand that the much more important question is not ‘what keeps you
up at night?’ but, ‘what gets you up in the morning?’ What makes you and your colleagues
more excited than ever, more creative than ever, more confident than ever, in a world
which on most days still seems more uncertain, more worrisome, more threatening than ever.
And that really is a lesson I’ve learned and re-learned during this long economic crisis.
