Fixing photos that are too light or too dark
Sometimes a photo captures exactly the moment you want,
but it's a little too light or too dark,
it easy to fix this in iPhoto.
First select the photo you want to adjust
then click "Edit"
and then "Adjust".
The adjustment pane appears
with sliders that make it simple to adjust
many different visual characteristics of your photo.
In this photo, the overall exposure looks fine
but the shadows are too dark.
Move the shadow slider until the darken areas in the photo look normal.
The clouds in the background are also a little bright,
so move to highlight slider until the clouds
appear with a bit more definition.
After making any adjustment
you can press the Shift key to quickly compare
the edited photo to the original.
If you don't like the adjustments that you've made to a photo,
you can click the "Reset" button on the adjustment pane
to bring it back to its original state
and you can start over.
iPhoto also accept images that are shot in the raw format
which gives you greater latitude in the manipulation of your image.
In this example the photo
is clearly over exposed by the bright sunlight.
By moving the exposure slider downward
we can bring a photo into a more balanced quality of light.
Experiment with other adjustments until the photo looks just right.
When you're finished click "Done"
and the adjustments are incorporated into your photo.
Even after you've made your adjustments
iPhoto always keeps track of your original image.
You can always go back to it by selecting a photo
and then choosing "Photos"
"Revert to original".
Click OK and your photo is restored
to the way it was originally taken.
With iPhoto's adjustment tool
you can turn your good photos in the great photos.
