[narrator] Pure Breeds.
Episode 1: The Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a bigger version
of the regular, old, boring King Charles Spaniels,
but it’s still considered a toy dog.
The breed is great with kids.
When I was young and my parents were going through a divorce,
I used to go to the park by myself where a strange lady--
she used to let me pet her King Charles, and that dog would just take me away.
Enough about me.
This is King Charles, the man who popularized the breed,
and in his arms is Miley.
She’s glad she’s alive,
because the breed almost went extinct when the monarchy fell.
Bunch of snobs.
Some say the character of Falkor in "The Neverending Story"
was based on Miley, but that’s just absurd.
That’s-- that’s a dirty, filthy lie.
These amazing dogs come in four different patterns:
Tricolour, Black and Tan,
Blenheim-- what the hell is Blenheim?
And Ruby. There's Miley again! Hi, Princess!
[makes affectionate noises]
This breed is known as the love sponge of dogs.
“I can never get enough love; I’m insatiable.
Come on, bump my tummy."
So that’s everything you need to know about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
They're great dogs and you should own one.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels must be monitored closely
for several health issues, including early-onset mitral valve disease,
[slurring] syringomyelia-- what the hell is that?--
luxating patellas, cataracts, and retinal dysplasia.
My mother had that.
