Welcome to Hershey's Kitchens. I'm Susan from Domestic.com. Never underestimate the
importance of how your baked goods look. Today I'm here to show you some easy ways to think
outside the box and add some pizzazz to your traditional
square shaped treats. I've made these delicious Hershey's Red
Velvet Brownies and I've tinted the cream cheese frosting red and green for a bit of
a holiday touch. The holiday season is all about experimenting
with your goodies. Head to your local craft or grocery store and
pick up some festively shaped cookie cutters. Once your brownies are baked and iced, I recommend
cooling them in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
The cooler they are, the easier they will be to cut. When ready,
spray your cookie cutters with a nonstick cooking spray. This will help ensure a smooth
cut and that the icing doesn't stick. Begin your cuts towards the
outside edge of the pan. This will ensure that you maximize your
batch to get as many cutouts as possible. You can use any shape cookie cutter you like.
For my brownies I'm going to use a tree shape and a star shape.
Once your shapes are cut out, grab a bottle of tinted Royal Icing**
and decorate as you wish. Royal Icing is great to use because it's sturdy and will stay fresh
for about a week. It's definitely worth a little extra time
to make sure your baked goods look as good as they taste. The festive
decorations and shapes really add a personal touch to a traditional holiday baked good.
