How to Make this Glass & Paper Bead Necklace
with matching choker made with irridescnet glass tube beads and a few yellow and pearlised large glass seed beads.
I have been trying different colors of paper. Making oval and round shaped beads, which I then matched with beautiful translucent glass beads all hung on natural cord - bohemian style.
I made quite a few of these roundish ones.
I painted the edges of some of them before I rolled them for a nice multi-colored effect.
For example, I used construction paper for these beads.
I cut strips of one color and pasted them onto a sheet of paper
then cut out the long trianges
and rolled them into beads.
This shape equals this shape bead
If a bead comes out more oval shaped than round
make a longer triangle
this will give a rounder bead.
These are all made with construction paper.
For the necklace at the beginning of this video I used yellow satin ribbon, 4 large yellow, 4 large white, 2 large green and 6 silver regular sized glass seed beads and two larger white stone beads.
The length of this necklace is about 19 inches long.
This paper bead is made from a painted triangle.
The beads are thread onto 20 gauge wire with two loops on each end for the doubled over ribbon.
I also made a choker of white irredescent glass tube beads accented with yellow and pearlised glass seed beads
to wear with the yellow ribbon necklace as a set.
I wrapped 20 guage wire around a coffee flask that was similar to the size of my neck.
And shaped a circle.

I bent the ends of the choker for a simple hook and eye closure to fasten the choker.
The yellow of the ribbon and the off-white glass tube beads complement each other well.
Close up of similar necklace I made with sweet little blue glass seed beads, turquoise chips, paper beads and pink satin ribbon..
I seal all my paper beads against moisture with non-toxic water based gloss acrylic medium or matte acrylic medium bought from hobby or art store under various brand names.
Do NOT use wood varnish or anything with solvents in it - not meant to be put next to your skin.
