Hello. I'm Doctor Bernice Bernhard, a New York state licensed psychiatrist practicing
here, in New York City. In this segment, I'm going to be talking about how to have a positive
relationship. This crosses whether you're gay, straight, bi, it doesn't matter. What
matters is that you have a true friendship with a person that you're involved with. That
you know no matter what, this person will always be there for you. That you're first.
Before job, before golf, before meetings with your friends, before extended family, and
even before your own children as they get older. What may surprise you is that having
things in common, maybe being the same religion, enjoying the opera or ballet, or golf, those
things really don't matter in that all of the studies that show what makes a good relationship.
What matters is, never be sarcastic, never demean the other person, never put the other
person down, be loving, warm, affectionate, be able to say, I'm sorry, and those are the
things that count in a good relationship. I'm doctor Bernice Bernhard, that you.
