President Obama is set to deliver a speech in Cleveland Thursday.
The White House is billing it a major economic speech, but his conservative critics in the
media are convinced he’ll...
MICHELLE MALKIN, FOX NEWS: “Blame, blame, blame, Bush, Bush, Bush!”
SEAN HANNITY, FOX NEWS: “President Crybaby is going to blame Bush again!”
Contrast that MSNBC contributor Jimmy Williams — who notes, that’s not the official strategy,
but says, even if it were, what’s wrong with that?
“The country already looks at George Bush's presidency as pretty much a debacle. Let's
vilify the people who are actually the villains.”
The president’s Advisers tell the Washington Post, he will use the speech to highlight
his efforts to boost the middle class. From a messaging standpoint, The Post reports he
plans to contrast that to his GOP opponent Mitt Romney, who he plans to continue suggesting
caters to the wealthiest Americans.
“What’s unclear is whether Obama’s Democratic critics will view the speech as more of the
same. ... They acknowledge the difficulty of explaining a complicated moment — and
combating a simplistic message from the other side that effectively says the economic woes
are ‘all Obama’s fault.’”
ABC’s latest poll, together with The Washington Post, finds 38% of undecided voters have favorable
views of President Obama’s economic plans — compared to 35% for Romney.
