Well, hello, we're with Carol Roberts, MD, of Tampa Bay.
Carol Roberts, thank you very much for being with us today,
and congratulations, by the way, on this wonderful book that you have written,
and published, and I know it's available on Amazon.com,
and 2009 is when you actually produced this.
And it's a fantastic work that you've done.
Tell us a little something about what inspired you to write this book,
and just give us a little synopsis about the book, please.
Well, having spent a lot of time with patients in the clinic,
I felt that I was giving the same talk, over and over, and over again.
Although it was important to give this information,
to a one they didn't get it, all at once, and they didn't get the nuances.
So, I decided that the smartest thing to do would be to write down
all my little talks, and just put them together in a book.
So, I did that, and the topics are very relevant to what I want my patients to know.
Anyone picking up the book will get great benefit from it,
because there's a lot in here that you can do for yourself.
So, for example, the first chapter is about the differences between 'holistic',
and 'alternative', and 'conventional' integrative medicines,
and so on, just to set the stage.
But then, the next chapter goes into the workings of the gastro-intestinal tract,
the digestive tract, because the digestive tract
is actually the foundation of good health.
And, if you understand what happens, from one end to the other,
you can really make a difference in your own health.
Whether you've got headaches, or you've got arthritis, or you've got asthma,
or whether you've got a digestive problem itself,
the digestive tract is where we go first.
And now, conventional medicine is starting to recognize
the importance of the bacteria that grows in your gut to your health.
If you've got 'bad guys' in your gut, then they're going to be producing toxins,
and you're going to be sick.
So, from the smallest to the largest part of the body,
there's something there for everyone.
I talk about hormone replacement therapy, which ones are safe, which ones are not,
I have a chapter on sex, sex into old age, why not?
We don't want to die before we're gone, we want to live to our very last day.
So, there are chapters, on weight, on all kinds of things.
Well, congratulations, thank you so much for sharing that with us,
and really, kudos to you on your wonderful publication.
