Hi! This is Ginny with Simply Beautiful Crafts on behalf of Expert Village and today we are
going to make a New Year’s Wreath. For this wreath I did not weave ribbon throughout the
pretzel like I usually do. What I did do once my wreath was dipped in the varnish and still
wet, was to take different colors of glitter and sprinkle them on. I used a variety of
colors and then let it dry. If your pretzel wreath has already been dried, you can always
use spray adhesive, spray it on and spray on your glitter. If you do that, you want
to take another sealant; this is a wood finish which works fine for pretzels or any other
spray finish, so that your glitter does not come off all over the place. Once you have
done that, it is time to go crazy. I found a lot of paper decorations in a package; this
martini glass and a little noisemaker and all of the little curly Q's. You can also
make your own. If you just take a piece of paper and simply start cutting in a circle
and come inside and cut
and there you have your own kind of curly Q type decoration for it. You can make them
large or small and you can use shiny paper or dull paper whatever you would like to use.
Once I get finished picking out all of the different decorations that I wanted to use,
I laid them on and I just play with them, experiment, get them exactly the way you want
and once you have done that, then you go back with your hot glue gun and glue on each piece
as you would have it. I would like to leave some of them loose and dangling. When I finished
with that and I decided it need a little more pizzazz so I took some of the little gold
balls or silver either one would work and glued them on around the piece, again I laid
them on and decided to where I liked them before I glued them on. The last thing I did
was to take a piece of gold braid, a piece of ribbon works just as well, make a loop
with it, take your hot glue gun and glue it securely to the back. Once you have done that
because it is hot glue, once it is cool your Happy New Year’s wreath is ready to hang
up and ring in the New Year with you.
