The Eiffel Tower is one of the prestige of France, but have you an idea of the maintenance that mean?
Already repainted 19 times since its construction, the Eiffel Tower requires 60 tons of paint each time it a makeover.
The great lady is indeed protected from oxidation by several layers of paint.
Its designer Gustave Eiffel said: "The painting is the key to the preservation of a metal structure
and care that are made are the only guarantee of its duration.
Repainted about every seven years, the Eiffel Tower has had several colors.
The first layer in 1889 was red-brown, then applied a paint pigment yellow ocher in 1892.
Since 1968, the tower is painted in a bronze color, but with a slight gradient:
darker at the base and lighter at the top, painting allows rendering homogeneous color since the height of the tower.
The anti-rust paint costing on average € 25 per kg, there are approximately 1.5 million euros for nothing that supply of paint!
