Held annually in Austria's Carinthian mountains, The Nassfeld Cup is officially the world's
longest ski race.
Ex-ski star and TV pundit Armin Assinger dreamt up the idea and put in a creditable performance,
coming second in the men's event with a time of 53:59.25.
Josef Dumik crossed shortly afterwards with 54:01.77 to take the bronze.
But gold was taken by Florian Jengl Jr. with a swift 53:55.75, beating Assinger by 3.5
seconds.
The women's race was won by local Nicole Galle in 55:14.88.
Second was taken by Alexander Grabner from Salzberg with 55:20.78 and in third place
was Simona Hollerman with 55:34.00.
It was the fourth staging of the race which has now officially been entered into the Guinness
Book of Records.
