Oh, Hi. I'm Douglas Willott on behalf of Expert Village. And today we're going to talk about
coordinating your shirt with your tie. Many guys have a tie in their collection that their
girlfriend, spouses or friends will often refer to as "that tie". This is a tie such
as a fish tie, or with a large cartoon character on it that that guy adores and many other
people think is great, but how do you coordinate it with a shirt? Let's be honest. When you
wear that tie, you're going to be approached as that guy wearing that tie. Pardon the general
terms, but people will think of you. For instance, a fish tie, you'll be that guy in the fish
tie. Tweety Bird, you'll be that guy wearing the Tweety Bird tie. These ties are not necessarily
bad; it's just harder to coordinate with them. Look at your base color of your "that tie"
tie. For instance, this is my "that's a lot of pink on that tie" tie that I sometimes
wear. Think of what's going to coordinate well with it. The gaudy Vegas shirt is not
going to go well with a loud tie as such. You want something more traditional. Something
like this I might even go with the lavender that I'm wearing right now just because it's
a lot more traditional looking, it's a little bit more of a classy shirt. So when I have
a tie like this to go with it, it's not, it helps the tie stand out more as opposed to
the whole combo of things. Additionally, if you are going to wear that tie, be prepared
to just go for broke. Maybe you want to wear it against a basic white shirt. Because that
way, as long as the tie is going to stand out, it's going to stand out really loud and
proud.
