Are you ready to add some layers to your shimmy? My name's Karen and this is Johanna. We're
with Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio, in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Let's add a vertical
chest circle to our shimmy. Make sure you practice them separately, and get them going
really well before you put them together. Let's have our feet slightly apart, and we're
going to first review our chest circle. Let's have our hands out to the side, and our chest
is going to lift up, go to the side, release in the center, and then over to the side.
So up; keep it up there, over to the side, let it release, and bring it back to center,
and then you can smooth it out, okay, good. Now, make sure you keep your belly button
tucked in, and don't let your hips move. You want them to move separately from one another.
So I'm going to turn a little bit to the side here, so you can see them working together.
I'm going to get my shimmy going now, so get it going nice and strong, and we're going
to do the same thing with our chest. Bring up, over, center, side, up, over, center,
side. And then smooth it out; make a nice vertical circle on the wall in front of you,
good. Make sure you keep that shimmy going. Watch the heels; that they're not lifting
up. Practice this in the mirror, and you'll have a nice layered shimmy too.
