Connie McCulloch: I'm excited to be here tonight to celebrate our
five year strategic partnership with Humber College.
Susan Roberton: It's a great opportunity for them to align themselves with a major
retailer and a major force in the market here in Toronto. All of the programs have an
internship component and for us to know that we have a partner in TJX makes
giving students those kinds of opportunities much more of a reality.
Alvina Cassiani: Not only is TJX looking for students in the fashion programs across
our diplomas, degrees and post-graduate certificate but it's also looking for
students in areas such as security, as well as in the areas of technology so
they know who are students are and they know what they're capable of doing.
Chris Whitaker: Students can get real work experience as part of their learning and then
hopefully as part of that experience they've got some connections made
with TJX as a large company with a number of businesses and hopefully that will
lead to positive outcomes once our students leave here, which means they'll get jobs,
which is what we're all about.
Kayla Bustard: I've loved fashion forever so the fact that it's a two year program and
I can excel from there and figure out where I want to go from there is really great.
It's just a foot in the door and I love the experience that I'm getting from it again.
I love going to school. I want to go to school everyday.
Richard Toledo: The Fashion Institute is great just because we have an area especially
for fashion students. It makes you feel like you have a part of the school that is dedicated
to you. It just makes you feel more inspired to continue studying and just to learn
about the entire industry.
Laura Gray: The program, I like that the first two years were business courses and
the second two years were more focused on fashion. I've been able to network with TJX employees
and people that can tell us kind of about the industry and how we would get into
a TJX company so it's been great.
Connie McCulloch: At TJX we're always looking for talent and we're always obviously
looking for people that have a passion for retail and a passion for fashion and
so this aligns beautifully for us because that's really what the Humber program is about
and I've been really impressed over the years in terms of the quality of the education and
the alignment and how it aligns perfectly with what we're looking for as well
within TJX Canada in terms of the recruiting process.
Laurie Bradford: For us to be able to grow and develop partnerships and offer students
opportunities after they graduate here at Humber, that's really important and for the students
it's important because they're getting exposure, they're getting access to positions
in the corporate world.
Susan Roberton: We are Humber, we are fashion, we are business.
