DSLR for video? 5 things to know before you start.
So are you thinking of shooting video with a DSLR? I'm Teddy Juras creator of
HDVideo101.com.
I'm gonna show you 5 things to know before you start.
Number 1. It can get expensive. Because DSLRs were created for photography
they come with limitations when used for video.
Purchasing a good lens, microphone, extra batteries,
and SD cards can add up.
Number 2.
DSLRs have limited recording time.
The majority of DSLRs can only record video for fifteen to thirty minutes at a time.
Because of this, you have to stop the camera frequentely when recording long events.
Number three.
DSLRs record poor audio.
Do you see the tiny holes on the front of your DSLR? assault
It's no surprise that the audio from these cameras are poor.
You will want to purchase an on camera microphone
to get better results.
Number four.
Variable lenses are not created equal.
The kit lens that comes with DSLRs are often variable apertures.
This means that as you zoom in your image gets darker starter
and as you zoom out it get's lighter.
This can be frustrating for run and gun type work.
Number 5. Use class 10 SD cards.
Because you are recording so much information
when you shoot HD on a DSLR
you must make sure you have
an SD card that can handle it.
A class 10 card is and essential for shooting DSLR video.
