The UTA light rail system, TRAX to locals, is accessible on east end of the airport terminal.
The Adult One-way Fare is $2.50 and is good on local buses and Trax. This fare applies
to passengers ages 6-64. Children up to 5 years may ride free accompanied with an adult.
A round-trip pass is $5.00 and can be used only on Trax. At the time of purchase, each
ticket will be validated by the ticket vending machine and is valid only on day of purchase.
A day pass is $6.25 and good for unlimited rides on the day of purchase on TRAX and local
buses. Day passes are validated at the time of use.
The Group Pass is $15 and allows four riders, of all ages, to travel together on FrontRunner,
TRAX, and local bus. Group passes must be purchased at Trax stations on the day your
group is traveling. This pass will expire the day of purchase.
Tickets can be purchased online or at Trax vending machines, found at all Trax stations.
Riders can also use card swipe kiosks at Trax stations to purchase one-way tickets. Just
swipe a Master, visa, or discover card. Hold on to your card and/or ticket as you may be
asked to show proof of purchase during your ride.
Trax has several lines. Frontrunner is a train that takes you both north and south along
the Wasatch front. Blue line, accessible at the Court House Station, takes you south to
Salt Lake's suberbs.
Red line, accessible at the Court House Station, takes you east to the University of Utah.
Green line, accessible at the Airport Station, goes to West Valley, Utah's second largest
and most diverse city.
Trax has a free fare zone in downtown Salt Lake. In this zone, bracketed by 600 south,
300 east, 400 west and 100 north, all bus and trax rides are free.
Trax does not run as late as light rails in other cities. Green lines to and from the
airport run from 4:57 am to 10:42 on weekdays, 6:19 am to 11:16 pm on Saturdays and 9:59
am to 7:56 pm on Sundays.
Trains run every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 20 minutes on Saturday and Sunday.
The commute from the airport to downtown Salt Lake is 20 minutes and stops at 6 stations
along the way. The final station, North Temple/Gaudalupe, is on the bridge that connects downtown with
the Westside neighborhood of Rose Park.
The Temple Square Station is next to Temple square, several hotels, the down mall, and
restaurants.
