Here we set up the Gentex 7109LS smoke alarm with strobe
It has a steady sounder and a nine volt battery backup
We also set up sound level meter set for 110db
If the needle goes to the middle, that would represent 110db,
all the way to the left is 100db ... all way to the right
is approximately 116db.
The green light on the detector
is indicating that the detector is on and operating
I'm going to activate the test 1 mode (in order to activate the detector)
by turning the test which to the left (or counterclockwise)
You'll notice that the LED starts to flash red to indicate
that it's verifying the signal (alarm)
We have activation of the audible at approximately 108db
and a strobe
Returning the test switch to the top
causes the detector
to restore to the silent condition
