Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen, and in this segment, we're going to learn all about how to take
care of or how to grow an easter lily. Well, you get the easter lilies at easter time,
and they're in beautiful bloom. And then when they die, you think that you've killed it
so you just throw it away. But that's the worst thing you can do because you have a
lily in that container, and you can plant it out in your garden and it'll bloom every
summer faithfully, and it'll multiply so you get more and more blooms. An easter lily is
just a lily bulb, and it's a trumpet lily, so they get really tall with waxy flowers
that are very fragrant. So they're really easy to grow. They're just like garlic. You
just plant them about three inches deep in sun or part shade, and I like to grow them
in triangles three inches apart, just like they are in the containers. When you get them
at easter a lot of times, there'll be three in a pot, and even if there's one, just put
one out as soon as it's done blooming. The easter lily will probably not bloom that summer
if it bloomed at easter time, but faithfully, the next year in the next summer, they will
bloom, and they'll come back year after year. They're a beautiful, beautiful white regal
trumpet lily. They're just a beautiful addition to your garden. They can get eight feet tall
over time. They're very fragrant. They multiply. And never, ever throw away any plants you
receive as a gift. Throw them in your garden and you might be surprised. They might make
a great perennial flower.
