When someone goes to a pawn shop, there's a few things they should look out for. Number one, you want to make sure
that you're going to a reputable establishment and there are a few ways that you can tell that you're in the right place.
First you want to make sure that the scales are certified by a county. Our scales are certified by Nassau County.
The way the county certifies the scales, they put two tags on it. First a sticker that goes over the closure of the scale
to make sure it can't be opened and tampered with. The second is a tag that goes on the back of the scale.
And each scale should have both to ensure that it has been certified. Next, you should make sure that all of your items are
weighed and tested right in front of you. At The Gold Standard, we weigh and test everything in front of you we explain exactly what you have
and how we come to the value of your jewelry or precious items that you brought in to us. Last, at The Gold Standard, we also do things
in a comfortable environment, you're sitting at a desk with one of our managers where again they explain
what you have, in a comfortable, friendly atmosphere there's no bulletproof glass, where you're speaking through a
microphone and you feel like you're doing something wrong. Everything's done in a comfortable environment
where again you're offered a cup of coffee and a glass of water and the whole experience of the transaction is out in the open
and everything is explained to you so you understand exactly what you're doing.
