In the previous chapter we looked at simply replacing placeholder images with photos from
our Camera Roll but photos are just one of six objects that can be added to your presentation.
Let's start by opening the Keynote created in the previous chapter from our Presentation
Manager or you can create a new one from scratch.
Next tap the New Slide button in the lower left and select the blank slide template.
Next tap the Add Object + icon in the upper right of the screen.
Let's start by adding an image from the Camera Roll Tab in the upper most left of the drop
down window.
Simply tap the relevant album and choose an image and it's instantly inserted into your
slide and pre-selected so you can move, scale or rotate to you liking.
Let's scale this by dragging the lower right blue handle so it takes up about a sixth of
the slide and place it in the upper left of our presentation.
Let's tap the plus button again and if we stay on our Photo's tab you will notice that
I can also add videos from my Camera Roll in the same fashion. If I tap on it, it loads
a preview that let's me scrub through the clip to make sure it's the right one. If you
are happy with it just tap Use to insert it into the slide.
You can then scale and position this in exactly the same was an image.
Next let's add a table. Tap the plus button in the upper right of the screen and then
tap the table button which is second from the right. You will notice that the table
window has 6 pages as indicated by the circles at the bottom — so we can swipe through
these to view the different table styles.
When you find a style you like just tap it to insert it on your slide.
You can double tap any cell to add text and then I will scale it down and move it to the
upper right of my slide.
The next object type we have access to are charts. Not only do we have multiple pages
to swipe through but we can choose either 2D, 3D or Interactive charts.
We will look at these in more depth later on, but simply tap on one to add it to your
slide. If we wanted to enter our own data we would just tap the Edit Data button but
for now let's just scale it down in the lower left of the slide.
Now let's add a text element in the same way. Tap + button, then select the Text icon and
centre it beneath our video. We can double tap it to enter our own text.
Lastly let's add a shape which is one of the most powerful objects available in Keynote
by tapping the + button in the upper right, and then tapping the shape icon.
Swipe through the shape styles until you find one to your liking and I can add one just
by tapping it. You can add text within a shape by double tapping it.
You will notice that shapes are slightly different to the other five elements we have added.
In addition to the blue bounding dots, this speech bubble has three green dots which give
us additional control over it's appearance.
These allow me to lengthen the stem and it's direction, adjust it's thickness and adjust
the speech bubbles radius.
Different shapes will give you different green control points so I encourage you to experiment
with them all.
