Colorado has a robust energy economy
and it's a huge boon economically to the state
so of course along with fossil fuel comes possible
environmental issues and pollution issues and they've had oil spills
and the fracking industry is also picking up there
so we've been over multiple times what happens with fracking
there's a chemical student pumped into the ground that has all different types
a corrosive materials and carcinogens
and that forces natural gas to the surface where they extracted and then
use it
and of course that affects nearby water supplies and also the air quality
but fracking was exempt from the clean water and air act
under the Bush administration in fact it's known as the Halliburton loophole
so bush in Cheney's bodies in big business ask them hey hook us up to this
favor for us we need to be able to pollute to make all this money
and they're like a okay no problem so
as a result of this the individual states including Colorado
have moved to regulate and stop these problems on their own they're doing it
without the federal government
so one thing that they did was pass a law requiring
rule Energy cooperatives to get 20 percent off their energy from renewable
sources by the year 2020
that's a very moderate very vanilla piece of legislation that says just this
tiny amount renewable sources that's all you need right
well actually cause some backlash in the
Energy Community so governor
john Hickenlooper was a democrat signed an executive order
to be even kinder to the energy companies and said hey you know what
up I'll personally review in a couple years the progress you guys are making
and if you can't reach that 20 percent mark I'll drop it to 10 percent
if twenty percent is infeasible and our
other than that Colorado push for increased fines for violations
already existing regulations by the way that bill failed in even get through
so what we have here is
a very very tiny attempt by Colorado
to just have basic but regulation
I love the dirty fossil fuel industry which is causing
environmental issues in the area right very very
tiny moderate reforms well as a result of this
people in some counties in Colorado as well as Kansas and Nebraska
tried to secede
and create of 51st state
now all this is just to avoid
environmental regulations
man
industry
is like only toll crybaby
now I understand man and I run a business so I get it you know you wanna
make money you want to do well
but even moderate legislation saying twenty percent needs to be renewable
energy by this far off in the future
if your gonna try to seceding create a fifty first thing they were calling
North Colorado by the way
and the only reason they want to know what is so think a polo nonstop
in at 51st a North Colorado it would be as dirty energy places you could
possibly get
know it's official man certain industries in the US
it I'd almost go as far as saying most industries but I don't wanna arm
I don't want to they're like
the crying toddler in the toy store
when mommy says are no we already bought you a similar tore that money we can buy
this one today we're gonna go home
her
I want to lose I want to destroy the environment I wanna make people sick so
I didn't do much good our aim
