So I get the question all the time, what is Unified Communications and its return on investment?
Unified Communications is the integration of different forms of communication, such
as voice, video, email, fax, instant messaging, chat, and present monitoring. Unified Communications
gives you the freedom to communicate when, where, and how you prefer, through several
different types of devices, such as computers, smartphones, and tablets. Employees can be
reached anywhere, at any time.
For example, say I'm an account manager for a design firm and one of my clients calls
in asking for me in particular, but I'm on a call with another client. My colleague,
using Unified Communications Application Presence Monitoring, can see that I'm actually on the
phone at the present time. So he decides to instant message or chat me asking if the portfolio
that I'm working on for this particular client is going to be available by the close of business
today. I can look down and see the chat, yes, it's going to be available today, hit send,
and then that's taken care of. So Unified Communications' return on investment is the
fact that yields quicker response times between clients and customers, which increases the
efficiencies in the business and ultimately increases customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Up until now, Unified Communications has only been available to larger businesses through
expensive, premise-based IP PBXs. Small and medium-sized businesses understand the value,
but due to the high cost it just wasn't an option. Momentum has solved that problem by
offering a fully-hosted, cloud-based Unified Communications solution, specifically tailored
to meet the budgets of small to medium-sized businesses.
