Every patient who comes through the door that asks about hair transplantation has I think
one major concern, will it look natural. They want to know what's the hairline going to
look like, will they be able to tell from far away that I have had a transplant. Will
someone tell from up close, my barber or my girlfriend tell that I have had a hair transplant
and if the hair transplants done right or we have enough hair to really finish the job
and I can explain a little bit about that later, we can make a hairline look very natural
and virtually undetectable to anyone who is looking even your hairdresser. The way we
do that is we take hair from the back of the head and we use those hairs that are genetically
predispositioned and never be lost and we separate them out. We separate them into natural
groupings. The natural groupings on the back of the head are ones, twos, and threes, and
we take those ones, twos, and threes separate them into individual little grafts and create
a hairline and when I create a hairline, I do it in a manner that is age appropriate.
So if a guy that is 60 who comes in and loses, all his hair gone, I am not going to give
him a hairline here, it will be age appropriate so it looks natural. Creating that hairline
in that manner makes it look most natural and we are able to create a transition from
forehead which is bald into hair which we want to make as thick as possible, but that
transition zone needs to be special and that first 8ΒΌ inches really where all the magic
is done. We take those little grafts, the ones, twos, and threes, we place them in a
certain direction, certain angles, and in a certain way to allow the hair to blend really
well and flow from the bald forehead into the hair where the hair is thicker. The biggest,
really biggest thing that we need to do is be very artistic about our placement of those
hairs. We don't want the hair sticking straight up, we want them lying down, we want them
blending from forehead into hair and we actually want to create a zone of a hairline and it
cannot be a straight hard hairline. It has to be very soft and regular, has to be just
blended beautifully. There is a way to do it and if you have got experience as a transplant
surgeon, you should be able to do that.
