There's just something about travel.
It changes you.
My name is Kade and my hope is that travel will help me discover exactly who I really am.
This is my adventure after grabbing A Ticket Anywhere.
Seven hours waiting at the airport, oh wait, the wrong airport. Two
puddle jumpers that are 20 minutes a piece and I am finally here in San Jose.
Had one of the most squirrely ridiculous taxi cab drivers here who ended up charging
me double what the estimator stated that it should have been. Negotiated with him
got him down to, you know, about a 40% premium. Which is *** anyway and I
was not having it and so I just decided to throw the last of the Colones that I had
and say *** it and get out of there. This was not a good day in any way,
shape or form and on top of that it is now *** rain down here in San Jose
so I can't even go and shoot the stuff that I want to.
So I decided to walk around and what did I stumble upon? None other than an AMPM
where they have fresh and easy sandwiches and of all things, Powerade.
So I am trying to solve the blood sugar problem that way and hopefully I'll be in
in a much better mood afterwards. I'll go out and actually take some night shots of
some of the places that I would have liked to have gone to in the day. So we'll see how
this all shapes up. Hopefully I don't get stabbed because this place reminds me of
all the things that I hate about New York City and San Francisco all at once.
One of the very interesting things about San Jose is the fact that Central Aveunue
is basically blocked off for about 12 blocks here. So that it's all pedestrian.
It's actually very, very cosmopolitan and there are all kinds of shops on both sides
of the street. All kinds of barkers and things like that are ready to grab your
attention and grab your money if you are willing to put up with it. There is a
substantial police force here though. They don't have a military here in Costa Rica
so they really do rely on the police to be the enforcers around here. It's been very
interesting to see some of the looks from them that I've been getting while recording.
to go home. It's as much though to decompress this experience and see back the video.
As for now though, I am crawling into bed with my laptop, enjoying a long night's
sleep that I have earned in every way, shape and form. I will be sleeping in
tomorrow. I won't be doing anything. I barely unpacked now. I'm all checked in
for my flight all the way back to Phoenix. There's definitely a part of me that wants
Do the extra work that is required for me to produce the show. As it is,
for me to go home there's not a whole lot waiting for me back in Phoenix
at the moment. You know, I'll only be back there for 8 days. Even if I do
feel like I got a ton of stuff going on I will at the end of the day be back
on the road before I know it. On the next episode of "A Ticket Anywhere"
I check out of my final hotel and head to the airport only to be stopped
on the highway due to a protest which requires me to walk the rest of the way.
